New Jersey residents can now use one application to apply for three programs: Senior Freeze, Anchor, and Stay NJ.
Each of the programs have age and income requirements/limitations. The attached is a PDF contains information about each of the various tax relief programs and benefits and will help you determine whether or not you might be eligible before you begin. When in doubt apply!

To Complete Your Application You will Need:
- Applicants under 65 and who do not collect Social Security disability benefits may also need:
- Property details from your Tax Collector’s office or property tax bill for 2023 and 2024 (i.e. County/Municipality Code, Block/Lot/Qualifier, tax amounts).
You can use the postcard you receive at year end for use with your tax returns.

- Gross income reported on your 2024 NJ-1040.
- Applicants 65 and over (and those under 65 collecting Social Security disability benefits)
- Property details from your Tax Collector’s office or property tax bill for 2023 and 2024 (i.e. County/Municipality Code, Block/Lot/Qualifier, tax amounts).
You can use the postcard you receive at year end for use with your tax returns.

- Gross income reported on your 2024 NJ-1040.
- Gross income reported on their 2023 NJ-1040.
What to Expect:
- You will receive a determination letter outlining the exact amounts you are eligible to receive for each program.
- Starting on August 13th, the State will begin sending eligible residents their confirmation letters and more details about the application and benefits.
- The filing deadline is October 31, 2025. Payments are expected to be issued in early 2026.
